Mixed Section

With such a strong Ladies Section it seems inevitable that Mixed Golf at Rowlands is very popular.

The club holds both internal and open events for golfing couples. These are added to by at least a dozen friendly matches. This creates the opportunity to host visitors and to travel and play a number of courses of the same high standard as RCGC.

Blackmoor, Hayling Island and Cowdray Park along with the other venues are always very popular with members.  Historically many clubs apply a principle of life partners not playing together in these matches. At Rowlands, couples play together and any single golfer wishing to play mixed golf will be found a golfing partner for the day by the organisers.

Once a year RCGC play a triangular mixed foursomes match against Hayling Island GC and Meon Valley GC. This strange event, which can cause dismay with the sight of so many players stood on the tee, started as a result of administrative error when three teams turned up to play in the same match. It has now been running for over 20 years. This years event was run and won by Meon Valley . Next year RCGC are the hosts.

To round off the season, one of the most popular events takes place, an American Greensomes Day, which attracts almost a hundred players. Followed by a carvery, prizes and medals!

It does not end there because as the winter approaches a mixed league program starts. No excuse not to get out on one of the driest courses in the area.
